Sankuyo Bush Camp- opened in August 2009 - set in a private concession, which borders the southern tip of the Moremi Game Reserve. This is a pristine area, with an excellent variety of game - with excellent sightings of the big cats (lion, leopard and cheetah), along with an abundance of plains game, elephant and giraffe.
The Lodge is in an area owned by the local community -
Sankuyo Tshwaragano Management Trust - and is managed by the same Company who operate Delta Camp, Oddballs and Oddballs Enclave - some of the best 'ecologically sensitive' Camps in the Okavango Delta.
The Bush Camp harks back to the time of the original explorers, and when Safaris were an adventure. This is a small, and intimate camp, with accommodation in 6 comfortable 'walk-in' tents. Each tent has twin beds, and has rustic, en suite facilities including bucket showers.
This is a classic camp, with the emphasis on game drives. Not only can you enjoy extensive game viewing in the early morning and late afternoon, but there is also the opportunity for night drives; which are only possible on private concessions, and which allow visitors the chance of seeing the nocturnally active species - something which give a whole new dimension to the Safari experience.
The Camp is set in a surprisingly diverse area, with acacia, combretum and sausage trees in abundance. In addition there is access to the Gomoti River, and its nearly classic Okavango palm tree vegetation, and riverine species... all of which adds to the birding experience.
The Camp Manager - 'Doctor' - is well known to us - having previously dramatically improved the Guiding and Management of Mapula Lodge - he has now bought his very demanding levels to Sankuyo.
Children of all ages are welcome.
