Camp Moremi - Moremi Game Reserve - Botswana

A view of Camp Moremi

Camp Moremi is situated on the on the beautiful Xakanaxa Lagoon, on the edge of the Okavango Delta, and within the Moremi Game Reserve. The Reserve is said to be one of the most beautiful in Africa, and the Xakanaxa area is arguably one of the highlights.

In keeping with the environmentally sound principles of tourism in Botswana, Camp Moremi has only 11 East-African style tents (with mosquito-proofing), each placed on a teak platform, with adjacent bathroom (shower and toilet – with a view!) The tents also all have a private viewing deck, which overlooks the lagoon. Each tent is furnished with hand-made Rhodesian Teak furniture, which includes a wardrobe, dressing table, bedside pedestals and traditional director’s chairs. To complete the interiors there are colourful woven rugs, and designer linen, whilst “his” and “hers” robes are provided, as are tea and coffee making facilities – all of which add guest comfort.

Shaded by giant ebony trees the well known Tree House is an elegant elevated thatch and timber construction which encloses the main lounge, a wildlife reference library, the dining room and a cocktail bar.

Activities at Camp Moremi include tracking, wildlife (including the large and small of the animal kingdom) on morning and afternoon game drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles. The resident naturalist guides share their knowledge and deep love of Botswana's wilderness with you on the game drives, where sightings of wild dog, cheetah, leopard, lion, elephants and buffalo are always a high light. There is also excellent birding, particularly from November to March. Guests can also explore the Xakanaxa Lagoon and surrounding channels of the Okavango by powerboat.

Unfortunately, children under 12 years of age cannot be accommodated at Camp Moremi.

Client feedback on Camp Moremi:
Fantastic (I'm running out of different ways to say how much we loved everything!). Beautiful 'tents' - absolute privacy and such a lovely bush setting with the monkey's swinging past! The game drives were awesome and our guide again very knowledgeable and friendly - we had amazing sightings of lions, including getting very close to a lioness and her two cubs (awesome!) and saw a huge variety of wildlife. The camp moremi staff again were wonderful - everyone was so friendly and lots of fun. On our first night there the full staff choir sang for us which was beautiful. Food was great - Mark was especially delighted with the roast lamb (his NZ favourite and the thing he always misses when we travel!)
